Intertronics becomes UK distributor of Scigrip adhesives

Adhesives supplier Intertronics has partnered with Scigrip to distribute its methyl methacrylate structural adhesives (MMAs) in the UK.

MMAs are fast curing, two-part adhesives that cure on mix at room temperature to form resilient bonds. They are ideal for structural bonding of metals, plastics, and composites in industries like marine, transportation, rail, automotive, and many others.

MMA technology bridges a gap between epoxy and polyurethane adhesives, providing benefits such as toughness, fatigue resistance, and high peel strength while maintaining high lap sheer performance. MMAs have excellent surface wetting and adhesion to a wide range of substrates. This makes the technology useful for structural bonding of metals, plastics, and composites.

“Scigrip has an established position in the marketplace, a broad existing range, and continued product development, so they were an attractive prospect for us when we were looking for a manufacturer of MMA structural adhesives to fill out our portfolio,” explained Ben Swanson, chief commercial officer at Intertronics.

“Scigrip has some unique patented MMA technology which allows improved properties, which are an advance on existing traditional formulations. We look forward to introducing these benefits to the market, giving customers more options for solving their structural bonding challenges,” concluded Swanson.

Scigrip is a brand of IPS Adhesives, which serves the surfacing, structural, and assembly industries. The company has three state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across two continents, ensuring its MMAs deliver premium quality, strength, and reliability.

“Adding Intertronics as a distribution partner supports our targeted growth strategy in the UK, as they now have MMAs as part of their product offering,” explained Andy Pace, sales director at IPS Adhesives Europe. “We see Intertronics as a results-focussed trusted advisor to the market. They are a very proactive company, which is something we look for in a distribution partner. Their ability to hold inventory and respond to customers quickly, fulfilling orders the same day for next-day delivery, is something we value highly in a distributor.”
