Lasers provide high precision welding and cutting performance
Demanding and high precision welding and cutting applications on thin metal sheet or foil materials are now faster, simpler and more efficient following the introduction of the new StarFibre series of lasers from Rofin-Baasel. The StarFibre series offers laser sources of either 100W or 200W nominal output power with fundamental mode beam quality, and can be used in either pulsed or cw mode. This combination of high beam quality, choice of power and operational mode selection means that the StarFibre series lasers can be used for a broad spectrum of precision welding and cutting applications.
The performance characteristics of the StarFibre series lasers are enhanced by the low inertia scanning head which enables extremely high welding speeds to be achieved over a large processing field. An optional camera and coaxial illumination system enables viewing of the weld area via the scanning head. Delicate and precise welding applications are possible due to the small spot size and low heat input, enabling StarFibre lasers to produce precision welds on components such as batteries, fuel cells, sensors, electro-mechanical components and medical components. These same characteristics also enable the laser to be used for a wide range of precision cutting applications.
The power supply and processing optics of the StarFibre system are housed in a compact and robust cabinet together with the Rofin control unit (RCU) which provides precise and consistent pulse shaping.
