Motors can combine enhanced hygiene with major cost savings
Designed to help enhance hygiene for the food manufacturing and processing industry, Lafert's stainless steel 'Marlin' motors also offer the potential for significant cost saving benefits worth £1000s. Lafert's Marlin range includes smooth-bodied, IP66 rated motors. The smooth body ensures there are no crevices to trap food or any other material to create potential hygiene issues - even the usual name plate details are etched into the body to eliminate that particular material catchment risk.
>These features are complemented by the motor's IP66 moisture ingress protection rating meaning that the motor can be pressure-hose cleaned safely with no covering or special protection required during normal cleaning operations. This combination of features - stainless steel, smooth body and IP66 ingress protection - results in achieving everyone's objective for improved reliability and longevity. Being stainless steel, there are no issues relating to flaking paint or rust so there is no deterioration of the motor body. Then the IP66 feature, together with a single piece terminal box and special seals, guards against motor failure, both electrical and mechanical. In addition, the complete range is fitted with thermal protection to guard against over temperature.
>The savings? One leading food manufacturer achieved savings totalling more than £4000 in one year by replacing just two standard motors with Marlin motors. The savings came exclusively from reduced engineering input relating to engineers' time and materials including replacement motors and motor repair. If lost production was added in then the savings accrued would have been significantly more.
