New collaborative robot products and applications showcased at Northern Manufacturing

On Robot’s two-finger RG2 grippers – available in both single and dual versions – mount easily on the arms of cobots without any external wires. The standard fingers can be replaced with bespoke fingers, and the grippers can let you know when they are unable to pick up a part. The dual gripper is ideal for optimising the cycle time of machine tending processes.

The OptoForce Force Torque Sensor provides robots with a sense of touch that has not been previously available to collaborative robots. It is the most flexible force torque sensor on the market. The optical sensor seamlessly connects to the Universal Robot and an increasing number of other industrial robot brands, and has a high resolution that enables it to work with fragile parts. OptoForce provides a number of applications out of the box – it can search for the next part in a stack, can detect when it comes into contact with any object, and can optically identify the centre of a part.

Olympus’ UR Welding System provides a cost effective robotic MIG welding solution. It is proving particularly attractive to companies who have previously not been able to justify the investment in an industrial robot cell, or simply do not have the space for one. Fitting in an existing welding booth, the UR welding system is ideal for volume small part welding, and as it is quick to program the welding positions, it can quickly be modified for new parts as production demands change.
