Discover savings the easy way with VACON SAVE
With the new VACON SAVE software package, pump and fan users can now quickly and conveniently discover just how much money they could save - and how much they could reduce their carbon footprint - if they fitted variable speed drives. Available as a free download from the VACON website, VACON SAVE is easy to use and produces reliable estimates of cost, energy and CO2 savings for almost any fan or pump application.

Users of the software are also reminded that, in many applications, VACON variable speed drives qualify for the government's enhanced capital allowance (ECA) scheme. This means that 100% of the cost of purchasing and installing the drives can be offset against tax in the first year to provide even greater savings.

To ensure that the estimates are as accurate as possible, the VACON SAVE software uses sophisticated algorithms based on affinity curves, compressor behaviour models, and on the relationships between efficiency and flow for various types of system.

Users of the software choose the currency in which they wish to work before selecting the cost of the system, divided into installation and component costs, from a pull down menu. They enter the price they are currently paying for energy, along with basic details of their application including, for example, the motor size and the number of hours per day it will be operating.

Working with this information, VACON SAVE calculates the energy used per year with a drive installed and the difference between the cost of this energy and the cost of the energy that would be used with no drive installed. It also calculates how long, in years, the drive will take to pay for itself.

Additionally, VACON SAVE produces figures for the amount of CO2 that could be saved by fitting a drive, based on the average emissions in various regions and countries of the world, which are chosen from a pull-down menu. The emission savings are shown for the expected lifetime of the system.
