Nord Drivesystems presents technologies for efficient, digital system concepts at SPS

Intelligent and efficient drive systems help to optimise and speed up processes whilst saving costs. Nord Drivesystems will show how this looks like at SPS in Nuremberg from 23 to 25 November 2021. The focus will be on innovative drive solutions for smart and digital automation – from modern frequency inverters to high-efficiency IE5+ motors up to the DuoDrive geared motor.

With its IE5+ synchronous motor, Nord says it has succeeded in significantly reducing losses compared to the current IE4 series. The patent-pending DuoDrive goes one step further and is said to set new standards with regard to performance, installation space and version reduction. At up to 92%, it offers one of the highest geared motor efficiencies on the market for this power class, and also achieves very high systems efficiency in the partial load range. It is thus future-proof and a real cost reducer. This was achieved by completely integrating the IE5+ synchronous motor into a single-stage helical gear unit – a completely new approach in geared motor design.

In the frequency inverter field, Nord will present two new products at SPS: the NORDAC PRO SK 500P control cabinet inverter with extended power range up to 22 kW as well as the decentralised NORDAC ON inverter for lower power ranges up to 1.0 kW. The integrated multi-protocol Ethernet interface is characteristic. Whether for Profinet, EtherNet/IP or EtherCAT, the required protocol can be easily set via parameters. Since no additional Ethernet modules are required, this results in version reduction with additional space and cost advantages, says Nord.

All Nord frequency inverters have a high-performance PLC for functions close to the drive. It can process the data from connected sensors and actuators, autonomously initiate control sequences and communicate drive and application data to the control centre, networked components or to cloud storage. This allows continuous condition monitoring and therefore forms the basis for predictive maintenance concepts as well as optimum plant dimensioning.

The new NORDAC ON inverter was specially matched to the target applications of horizontal conveyor technology. As a long-standing and experienced logistics partner, NORD is highly familiar with the requirements of the industry and offers scalable drive solutions for all subareas. The company takes a comprehensive TCO approach which creates an optimum compromise between investment, operating and maintenance costs.
