When developing wind turbines, designers and engineers always seek to create plants with service lives of several decades. Seals which are subjected to extreme loads, especially in offshore wind farms are very important elements in this regard. It is with this kind of application in mind that Freudenberg Simrit developed the Enviromatic deflector for the main bearing.
As an optimised buffer seal, this deflector protects the Radiamatic seal. This all-new seal is designed in such a way that it effectively keeps salt particles in the air, moisture, rain, and dirt away from the seal by wiping them off, thereby making a significant contribution to the optimisation of the sealing system's service life.
The specially designed rigid sealing lip contour is a huge improvement on the V-rings that were used in the past. This new contour ensures defined linear sealing lip contact, which in turn provides much better protection, even at higher circumferential speeds and with greater axial movements over a very long service life. The optimised lip contour and optional fixation of the lip also prevent the seal from tilting in the installation space even at higher lip contact pressure levels.
The elastomer sealing material has a high mechanical load-bearing capacity and wear resistance, and is also incredibly resistant to ozone.
