MEGATRON is launching two new S-beam force sensors with integrated analogue amplifiers: The KT1405 and KT1505 measure switching and actuation forces between 50 N and 10 kN with the highest accuracy via a full-bridge strain gauge circuit.
These force transducers enable users to achieve even more precise measurement results while saving installation space, as no external signal conditioning is required.
The KT1405 S-Beam force sensor is ideal for applications involving small to medium force ranges, from 50 N to 1 kN. The KT1505, on the other hand, measures forces between 1 kN and 10 kN.
Both sensors can measure compressive or tensile forces, and bidirectional compressive and tensile forces can be measured using just a single sensor if required. This is made possible by the integrated analogue electronics, which provide a bipolar voltage output ranging from -10 V to +10 V, in addition to the 0-10 V and 4-20 mA output signal options. The force transducer provides information on the direction of the force via this output: compressive forces generate a positive signal (0 to +10 V) and tensile forces generate a negative signal (0 to -10 V).
MEGATRON has integrated analogue electronics into its force sensors in response to customer demand, as previously, these sensors could not be used due to the lack of a negative output voltage.
The new S-Beam force sensors boast an impressive response time of under 1 ms and a cut-off frequency of 1,600 Hz. As they feature an analogue amplifier, there is no need for bulky external electronics. Despite their integrated electronics, the sensors are highly compact, measuring 70 mm x 64 mm x 34 mm (KT1405) and 80 mm x 71 mm x 40.5 mm (KT1505), respectively. Furthermore, their cabling requirements are significantly lower than those of sensors with a separate amplifier. All force sensors are calibrated and tested at the factory, and a test report documenting compliance with the specified measurement values for the selected nominal force is supplied.
The KT1405 series of S-Beam force sensors is typically used in assembly, handling, dosing, packaging and testing systems. KT1505 series sensors are ideal for measuring force in production plants and equipment, as well as in dosing and packaging systems. They can also be used to monitor joining and assembly processes.
