A new design of diecutter employs a servo worm box

A new design of diecutter employs a servo worm box Micro machining specialist Loadpoint has been designing and manufacturing dicing saws and precision machining equipment for over 40 years. Most recently it has developed a new die cutter that provides a solution to the substantial equipment gap that exists between hand fed platens and fully automated flat bed machines.

The design presented some key motion control challenges, namely two principal axes to drive and a move time of less than one second to rotate a 400kg roller 360 degrees, with a bidirectional and continuous duty cycle. To find a drive solution that would meet these needs, Loadpoint turned to Wittenstein.

The solution to this requirement for highly dynamic, cyclic and continuous operation was Wittenstein's robust V Drive servo worm box, providing a torque of 1500Nm, speed up to 4000rpm, low backlash of less than 3 arcmin, and a rotational flange output for stiff and dependable drive connection.

Wittenstein was able to supply the appropriate servo mechanics with a fast turnaround, enabling Loadpoint to speed up its development time and manage the development costs most effectively.
