A new era begins for Southern Manufacturing and Electronics
Southern Manufacturing brings together an incredible range of suppliers in its brand-new £35m permanent home, Hall 1 at Farnborough International. Firms taking part include major machinery and hardware manufacturers, components, consumables and every type of subcontractor. Everything your business needs to operate efficiently and profitably is under one roof.
CamdenBoss is highlighting a number of new products including IP68 Flat Sheet Plastic Technology (FSPT) custom enclosures, a comprehensive range of circular connectors, an extensive range of electrical enclosures, new 2.54mm and screwless CamBlock Plus terminal blocks plus additional enclosures in the Takachi range.
CamdenBoss’s popular FSPT custom enclosures will now be suitable for use in harsh environments thanks to a unique joining technique developed by the company to ensure that enclosures are completely watertight. This enhancement – offering an IP68 rating – will further increase the appeal of the versatile FSPT product line, enabling customers to deploy custom enclosures in many more applications than were previously possible, including outside environments.
Staying with the waterproof theme, new circular connectors include the premium CamCirc IP68 multi-pole range that is ideal for a multitude of applications such as broadcasting, military, energy, marine, food processing, industrial, automotive & autosport, medical, oil and gas, rail, robotics, agriculture and security. With a rugged, high quality and high-performance interconnection solution from 2 to over 20 poles, CamCirc products do not disconnect when the cable is under load or stress and are colour coded to ensure correct mating.
Davall Gears is highlighting its position as an established leader in the field of custom made gearing. This position has been attained by successfully combining extensive knowledge of industry with the use of modern technology. The company is able to provide design and manufacturing solutions to the many and varied power transmission and rotary motion problems posed by their clients.
Davall DSG division specialises in the supply of standard, off-the-shelf power transmission product. These include spur (imperial and metric pitch), anti-backlash, helical, bevel (mitre, ratio, straight and spiral) gears and racks in both imperial and metric format, timing drives (classic, T/AT series, HTD, Powergrip GT and PolyChain), including belting and pulleys, universal joints (single, double and extending), flexible and rigid couplings, torque limiter (overload protection), gearboxes (worm and wheel, spur and helical) and component fixing bushes. All these components are suitable for applications ranging from research and development projects to machine maintenance, for model makers to large OEM manufacturers.
The extensive Elesa range of standard machine elements on display at Southern Manufacturing is designed around the needs of manufacturing in all industry sectors. Products on show include the IP65-7 direct dial digital position indicators with electronic mechanism for easy set up and readout.
These are coupled with the Elesa wireless spindle positioning system which enables faster and more reliable machine set up by use of a wireless connected profile controller, which displays the initial set up values on each of up to 36 electronic position indicators. The operator can simply choose the appropriate menu then quickly re-set each spindle to its correct start position and the machine is “good to go”.
Henkel adhesives continue to influence how products are designed and manufactured and none more so than the company’s newly introduced range of Loctite Universal Structural Bonders. What makes these products stand out from the crowd is their unique formulation. Their many attributes are achieved through Henkel’s patented hybrid technology to achieve bond strength, speedy cure and durability – performance qualities that historically have not been available from a single product.
Structural bonding allows materials to be selected for their respective performance qualities rather than their compatibility with the joining method; plastics, metals and composites can be freely combined. The adhesive also creates uniform stress distribution across the entire bond face and as the join is relatively invisible, the aesthetics of the product are considerably enhanced. Henkel’s hybrid technology adds value by combining these benefits with high bond strength and super-fast fixturing and cure speed.
Igus will showcase a wide range of cost-effective, lightweight and maintenance-free bearings and cable management systems for a variety of engineering applications. Developed to combine the advantages of the E2/000 and E4.1 in one product range, the E4.1L ‘lean’ features interior clip in slotted separators that provide up to an 80 percent assembly time saving. Visitors will see that the innovative design of these lean separators enables layer-by-layer insertion of shelves and cables, and the time savings are increased again by using the new lean honeycomb strain relief.
Additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, is another key focus during the show. The recent launch of the online configurator that enables engineers to configure gear wheels. In a few steps, enter the specifications of the required gear wheel – tooth module, number of teeth, width and inner diameter. This automatically displays a 3D model that can be exported as a STEP file and uploaded onto the igus online 3D printing service. With a mouse click, the customer can order printed parts for shipment within 1-3 days, or request a quotation.
