Eco friendly Hyponic gearboxes deliver production efficiencies

Eco friendly Hyponic gearboxes deliver production efficiencies

The world's media has retained focus on the environmental debate for the past two decades, but recent times have seen a marked rise in the prominence of the phrase corporate social responsibility, leading businesses everywhere to start seriously considering their carbon footprint. The current reliance on the use of fossil fuels for energy will soon be forced to cease, with most of these natural resources already ruined or depleting at an alarming rate.

Attitudes towards recycling, reducing pollutants and toxic waste are shifting, and we are now seeing the widespread deployment of green technologies throughout numerous industries. Adhering to eco-friendly directives means much more than just minimising any negative environmental impact; it requires a dedication to continuous innovation, evolving methods and materials whilst maintaining profitability.

Sumitomo's Hyponic is the ideal gearbox for companies who are striving to improve their production efficiency in addition to being eco friendly. Manufactured in Sumitomo's ISO 14001 certified factories, the gearboxes further boost their eco credentials by limiting the use of lead in their manufacture, and Sumitomo says most products can be customised to meet the European Union's RoHS guide if necessary.

Efficiency resides at the very core of the green agenda, and so as well as being maintenance-free, the Sumitomo Hyponic gearbox has been designed to have an exceptionally long service life. Grease lubrication maximises the mounting flexibility, eliminates oil leaks and oil changes. Entry of water is eliminated due to the non-vented design.

Sumitomo Hyponic drives use patented, all-steel hypoid gear technology, delivering an efficiency rating of 80-85% across ratios 30:1 to 1440:1. The company asserts that switching from the traditional bronze worm gear to the hypoid for applications ensures a significant reduction in overall utility costs and an emphasis on sustainability.

Sumitomo Drive Technologies has been a consistent world leader in the design and manufacture of speed reducers and geared motors for industrial applications for over eighty years. Client collaboration is the main emphasis for Sumitomo Drive Technologies at the outset of each and every potential partnership - working in tandem to safeguard the needs of each individual business, as well as driving research towards more environmentally aware quantifiable outcomes.
