GigE uEye CP - the tiny power pack with PoE functionality

A Korean customer of IDS, BluetileLab offers customized software solutions for machine vision systems in different industrial sectors. For a long time they had been searching for the right camera to be integrated in a chipset inspection application. At this year’s Automation World Show Seoul, the BluetileLab engineers finally found what they were looking for: the GigE uEye 5250CP industrial camera from IDS together with accessories meets all conditions.

High speed, large quantities and the highest quality are essential criteria in chip production. The client’s catalogue of requirements demanded a complete machine vision solution for a chip inspection application to replace the previously installed system using probe sensors.

With the camera, chipset alignment on the tray as well as special characters on the chipsets can be inspected. In the latter, OCR (Optical Character Recognition) plays an important role. As under normal lighting conditions, chipset characters are hardly recognizable, so a combination of specific camera functions and light techniques were required for this particular application.

The solution was the IDS Gigabit Ethernet industrial camera GigE uEye 5250CP with the sensitive 2 Megapixel CMOS sensor. The sensor allows switching between various shutter modes, which enables sharp images of moving objects to be captured, or extremely low-noise, high-contrast pictures. Furthermore the camera supports Windows XP, which was a fundamental criterion for the camera selection in this case.
