High performance in smaller sizes

High performance in smaller sizes New gear technology standard for the most demanding applications in automation and robotics.

Servo drives are used for many different applications. This results in a variety of torque and backlash requirements for the gear units. Whatever these requirements may be, power density, endurance and noise level are also high priority factors. Stober has addressed these requirements with a new design of gear unit, available either with a motor adapter for universal motor mounting, or as a compact servo geared motor.

The Stober ServoFit is a two stage planetary gear design, in contrast to the usual industry standard spur gear. Stober says the noise levels of such products are a clear indication of their limited running quality and wear resistance. The ServoFit, by contrast, sets new standards for functional performance, but without increased price. Specifications include backlash better than 1 arcmin, gear ratios from 3-680, and torque from 19-22,000Nm.

Automation systems are rarely housed in noise-absorbing enclosures. So it is beneficial for operators if the noise emissions from the servo drives are kept within limits. The quiet running and smoothness of the ServoFit PE planetary gear units is provided by the helical planet gear sets, which are manufactured to a very high quality. As well as reducing noise, this also improves running quality and endurance, which translates into greater reliability.

Maximum mounting convenience
In the gearhead versions, the single-piece, compact housing with integral motor mounting system is optimised for the mounting of standard industrial servo motors. The integral, zero-backlash clamp coupling gives maximum mounting convenience. Stober says it takes barely a minute to adapt a motor, with the precise centring of the servo motor prevents mounting errors. A single clamping screw produces the interference fit and a thermal expansion feature is integrated. For special motors, adapter versions for any interface layout can be supplied on request.

Alternatively, you can purchase a geared motor - a modified gear unit directly connected to one of Stober's synchronous servo motors. The motor shaft, designed in the form of a coupling hub, accepts direct connection of the sun gear shaft, without the need for a coupling, saving space. And since the gear unit is already highly compact, the result is an integrated geared motor that is extremely short and which offers weight benefits as well.

With numerous coaxial and right-angle gear units in the range, the ServoFit line offers a high level of adaptability for numerous different servo functions. All units set new standards for running smoothness and backlash stability. In some cases, a number of gear units can be combined to form multistage versions.
