High performance, low inertia

High performance, low inertia The EAS-NC torque limiting clutches now available from Mayr Transmissions have been specifically designed for use on power transmission applications where high performance together with drive rigidity and low inertia are pre-requisites. A patented design feature of the EAS-NC clutch is the backlash free torque transmission which together with special pressure springs ensures constant and precise torque decrease in the event of an overload in the drive train or machine. The EAS-NC torque limiting clutch was initially designed for use on CNC machine tools for limiting the transmission of force from the lead screw to the servo motor in the event of collision due to programming or operating errors. The optimum design principles provide immediate drive disconnection in the event of an overload, thus uncoupling up to 90% of the damaging energy in a typical drive train preventing costly damage and down time . Mayr reports that nine sizes of EAS-NC clutch can be supplied for either ratchetting (multiple position auto-reset) or synchronous (single position auto-reset) applications, covering the torque range from 0.5 to 2,400Nm.
