Hysteresis capping heads for bottling
Due to the constant, impact free, slip torque, hysteresis capping heads are much better suited for sealing plastic and non-returnable glass bottles than permanent magnet or friction heads.
The technically advanced ROBA-capping head from Mayr Power Transmissions is based on the patented ROBA-contitorque hysteresis clutch, which has been used successfully in various applications for more than ten years to provide torque in a contactless and wear free manner.
A characteristic feature of the widely used permanent magnet capping heads is the torque pulsation during slipping. This torque pulsation causes alternating loads which are destructive to the attached mechanical components. The results are frequent, cost-intensive inspections which lead to higher maintenance and increased downtime.
When sealing plastic bottles, the advantages of the smooth, impact free operation are dramatic. The closing torque has a repetitive accuracy of ±2% at constant ambient temperature and speed and optimal adjustment is easily set and read from a permanent scale. The consistency of opening torque is far higher than with traditional heads.
