IP66 protection for decentralised drives

IP66 protection for decentralised drives Eaton is now offering its PowerXL Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) rated up to 7.5kW with IP66 protection. The robust devices can be surface mounted directly next to the motor or at the machine thus ensuring versatile use and simple retrofitting even in harsh industrial environments. Compliance with the necessary EMC requirements is also easier thanks to the resulting shorter motor cable lengths. PowerXL drives are ideal as an easy-to-install, user-friendly and energy-efficient solution, particularly with applications such as pumps, fans, conveyor belts, cranes, compressors or lifts.

Eaton tests its products in accordance with all the applicable international standards whilst special applications with more extensive requirements are also possible. It is for this reason that Eaton is now offering its VSDs with IP66 protection so that they can be installed outside of the control cabinet. This simplifies the retrofitting of drives to older installations where there is often insufficient space for installing a VSD in the control cabinet itself.

PowerXL VSDs enable operators to implement load-oriented manufacturing control of their machines to increase energy efficiency and lower operating costs. The range currently consists of two models: the DC1 basic model for ratings from 0.37 to 11 W, and the DA1 for ratings from 0.75 to 250kW for more demanding solutions.
