Modular safety controller delivers on flexibility
Elobau is promoting its modular safety control system, which is easily integrated into existing safety concepts. Elobau says this system proves flexible and cost-effective for every application, large or small. Configuration is via simple, intuitive, easy to operate software.
The eloProg base module is a standalone safety controller in its own right, with built in I/O which can be used as an individual device, but also allows further expansion with additional local or remote I/O modules. Elobau says this approach has several advantages, particularly with modular machine systems. There are a number of eloProg I/O module configurations which allows the designer to optimise the use of I/O allocation. The configuration software is free of charge with the base unit.
Up to 14 additional eloProg I/O modules can be connected, providing up to 128 safe inputs. Module to module communications are facilitated by local bus, which also ensures cost-effective cabling. For diagnostic and operational integration, all popular fieldbus protocols are supported. Other features include a USB programming port on the base module, and an on-board memory card which allows data transfer without the use of a PC.
The eloProg safety controller operates from 24V DC and has a maximum switching voltage of 250V AC or 30V DC, with a maximum switching current of 6A. The base unit comes with eight safe inputs, two safe outputs, four test outputs, two control outputs and two EDM inputs. The eloProg base module, and expansion modules, can be used with a variety of I/O devices, including emergency stop switches, safety sensors, guard switches, safety light curtains, laser scanners and two-hand controls.
eloProg is safety rated to SIL 3, PL e and safety category 4, and is UL approved.
