Nabtesco launches Neco next generation cycloidal gears

Nabtesco launches Neco next generation cycloidal gears

With the Neco series Nabtesco says it has opened a new chapter in the field of cycloidal gears. The precision gears with a solid shaft have been adapted to the specific needs of customers to set standards for design, efficiency and flexibility. Nabtesco says it is also revolutionising the process for ordering, configuration and handling of gearboxes.

The new Neco series comprises fully enclosed gearbox units. They are based on the precision gears of the RH-N series, featuring a modern clean design, comprehensive corrosion protection, high modularity and maximum flexibility in the motor connection. “In the development of Neco gears we looked at the most important requirements of our customers and, by focusing on perfection, created a very economical solution, without having to make compromises regarding the technical specifications,” explains Daniel Obladen, head of sales general industries at Nabtesco Precision Europe.

The Neco gearboxes achieve high precision with a hysteresis loss of only 0.5 arc.min, have a very robust design with dual-bearing eccentric shafts and a bearing mounted input shaft, and feature a high overload capacity and torsional rigidity. In addition, their lightweight design ensures applications with lower inertia, improved load conditions and reduced power consumption.

The motor shaft is adapted by means of a radial clamping ring with a low-inertia design. The ring reduces inertia on the motor shaft by up to 39 percent to enable extremely dynamic cycles. The advantages for the user are obvious: shorter cycle times, as well as higher productivity and efficiency. Mounting of the motor is likewise simplified greatly since no alignment of the drive pinion is necessary. A flexible system with modular bushings and flanges guarantees uncomplicated adaptation for use with all standard servomotors.

In addition to the design innovations the Neco series also features an advanced corrosion protection concept. SSA coating (a special corrosion protection method by Nabtesco) is combined with oxidation to provide optimal protection. The result is comprehensive corrosion protection, including the gear output shaft and the running surfaces for the radial shaft seals. A positive side effect: an elegant, unique black-silver design.

Nabtesco has also addressed the ordering, configuration and handling of gears. “With Neco we have developed a modular system that allows the customer to configure a custom gearbox quickly and easily,” says Obladen, adding: “We have redesigned the quick finder on our website and integrated a new configurator that guides customer intuitively to the right product. In addition, our customers will also have access to manual videos, operating manuals and live support via the Internet or a QR code.”

Three sizes (Neco-25, -42 and -125) are currently available, with more to follow soon.
