Reassurance to machine builders as published list is now complete

The complete list of harmonised standards under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has now been published, with a number of missing standards being included - hopefully bringing comfort to machine builders who have been working without the reassurance of  presumption of conformity.

Peter Still, industry standards manager at Schneider Electric, says: "It is satisfying to see the European Commission list of harmonised standards has been republished to include vital standards, such as EN954-1 and EN 60204-1.  The omission of these when the list was published in January of this year caused much confusion to machine builders.

"With the standards now included, machine builders will have much needed piece of mind when carrying out their work.  While it won't change their working practices, as most machine builders were following the omitted standards anyway, they will be legally entitled to presume that working to these standards will conform to the Machinery Directive."
