Safe vertical guidance for energy chains

When you're looking to improve productivity around your plant, then one of the areas to look at is running the likes of lifts, hoists and aisle stackers faster. Of course, that has implications for the cable management technology, but the various suppliers have helped by developing products which will run at the required speeds. However, with vertical applications in particular, those increased speeds can begin to represent a health hazard.


Igus has come with a solution in the form of Guidelok for its Energy Chains. Guidelok is a system for vertical applications where hanging chains are kept in place even when there are massive transverse accelerations. Thanks to a new design detail, applications using this system - for example in aisle stackers, lifts, hoists or material handling applications - no longer need expensive casings.


The Energy Chain is held in place in a trough by two tiling levers automatically activated by the radius. This means that the Energy Chain can not swing out or deviate to the side, even on masts of up to 40m high. The Guidelok system captures and contains the Energy Chain within the trough.
