Southern Manufacturing – the UK’s industrial technology showcase
Southern Manufacturing and Electronics returns to FIVE, Farnborough, from February 9th to 11th 2016. The event retains its popular three day format, making it even easier to plan a trip to the UK’s quintessential annual industrial technology show.
Keeping abreast of the latest advances in the fast-moving world of industrial technology is a challenge. But with its awesome choice of suppliers in a single venue, Southern Manufacturing and Electronics is a boon to the busy engineer. Ideally situated close to the M3 in Hampshire and well-served by public transport, the event is free to enter and offers ample free on-site car parking. Three-day opening means it’s easier to schedule a visit into the busiest diary, and even a short visit will invariably prove worthwhile, as Show Director Phil Valentine explains:
“Visitors from all manufacturing departments with ever increasing multi-discipline responsibilities can address several issues in one visit. Around every corner there is something new for visitors. The surprise discovery of new solutions, applications or processes that were not our visitor’s original intended reason for visiting form the cornerstone of what makes the show so appealing.”
Southern is renowned for its extraordinary range of suppliers from almost any realm of industrial activity. Southern 2016 gives a unique opportunity to meet an ever-growing number of international exhibitors, alongside its extremely inclusive selection of UK engineering specialists.
At approximately 18,000 square metres, and hosting up to 800 exhibitors, the show is without a doubt a "big league" event and one not to be skipped. The exhibition area is divided roughly equally into Electronics and Manufacturing, and sub divided still further into areas for Subcontracting, Components, Machinery and Production and so on. This helps the show retain its trademark intimate feel and unique atmosphere, while at the same time providing an incredible breadth of content. Technology trails further assist visitors around the main show areas, enabling them to locate firms active in specific areas such as, for example, Aerospace, Medical Technology or Contract Electronics Manufacture. Detailed information is contained in the comprehensive show guide available free to all pre-registered visitors. The show also publishes its own 16 page Preview magazine which is sent out to those registering online at www.industrysouth.co.uk
Combined with exhibition and demonstration areas, the show's free seminar programme is undoubtedly a hugely popular draw. Two programmes run in tandem in two theatres, focusing on Manufacturing and Electronics respectively, encompassing discussions on technical innovations, business management, marketing and also the recent commercial regulation. Free access to this type of high-calibre engineering and business knowledge is without a doubt a powerful added incentive for engineers to reserve a place.
