Sustainability and Industry 4.0 for cable carriers

Sustainability and digitalisation are closely linked: Optimising processes using digitalisation, for example, reduces energy and transport costs, which in turn protects the environment. Cable carrier manufacturer Kabelschlepp Metool places resource-saving processes at the centre of its developments.

Kabelschlepp Metool implements resource-saving production, from planning and materials processing to disposal and beyond. One example is recycling: Production waste from plastic cable carrier production is processed into regranulate and fed back into the production cycle. Steel cable carriers are even 100 percent recyclable. Kabelschlepp Metool is tackling the issue of sustainability from multiple angles, for example with an in-house photovoltaic system or research on using plastics made from renewable resources.

Optimisation potential can also be found in the process control and monitoring of cable carriers: A standardised DIN rail module can be used to regulate the push/pull forces acting on the cable carrier systems or to generate a wear prognosis for glide shoes. To do this, a target/actual comparison with reference to wear and push/pull forces is conducted in real time based on test data. Other modules for monitoring and forecast tasks are currently being developed.

Modular systems make customized solutions for all industries possible. Standardized individual parts as the smallest units allow the greatest possible flexibility in the design and application options for the cable carriers. The right material is available for every application, whether plastic, steel or hybrid. The positive side effects of standardized individual parts are delivery reliability and a high level of quality. The modular system means that fewer materials have to be kept in stock than for individual or customized systems – but of course these can also be implemented at any time.

From simple cable carriers to complex systems, Kabelschlepp Metool delivers a customized concept that integrates even the most complicated assemblies. Customers receive comprehensive support, so that the system can be started up immediately after delivery and installation. Cable carriers from Kabelschlepp Metool are used in intralogistics, medical technology, clean room technology and the crane industry, among other areas.
