Safety edges for harsh environments
Motion29 is launching a new design of safety edge said to be suitable for use in areas of high humidity and moisture. Manufactured by Bircher Reglomat, the new safety edge uses Bircher's existing wide range of rubber profiles with a new internal contact strip.
Whereas the existing range uses a nickel plated bronze contact, the new contact strip is moulded from conductive rubber with integrated tinsel and Kevlar cords for improved conduction and strain relief within a protective EPDM outer jacket. Not only does this improve its chemical resistance, it is said to be able to withstand the rigours of high humidity applications compared to existing solutions.
Due to the construction of the new contact strip, it is said to be able to withstand the effects of a high impact as there are no metals parts that can be damaged resulting in early failure to the sensing edge.
