Weg exhibits products at EMEX in November

Electric motor manufacturer, Weg will exhibit its range of energy efficient motors and automation products at EMEX, stand E14. A leading net zero conference and energy management exhibition, EMEX will be held at the ExCeL London, between Halls S3–S5 from 24-25 November 2021.

EMEX connects professionals involved in energy, environmental and sustainability management. Practitioners and experts from various backgrounds and sectors, will share their journeys to becoming net zero. This provides attendees an opportunity to learn about the success of low carbon and energy efficient projects, while also keeping up to date with the latest technology and regulatory changes.

As an organisation dedicated to providing customers with energy efficiency solutions, Weg will exhibit its WG20 geared motor series. Manufactured with a light aluminium housing, Weg says the WG20 motor series delivers high efficiency performance, without compromising on its sophisticated design.

Weg will also exhibit its W22 three phase motor line. This range has been developed to provide high levels of performance, while also ensuring maximum energy efficiency with levels up to IE4 — surpassing current European ecodesign regulations which came into effect on July 1, 2021.

The new latest legislation means that all three-phase motors with an output between 0.75kW and 1000kW must meet the IE3 standard. International efficiency (IE) indicates how energy efficient a motor is, with IE3 being used for motors with premium levels of efficiency.

Variable speed drives (VSDs), rated for use with the motors covered by the legislation, are also required to meet their own IE2 standards. This is the first time VSDs have been included in these requirements.

Despite the requirements coming into action this year, Weg has long adhered to – and exceeded – these rules. The company already has a range of safe area motors suitable for industrial applications, which are rated at IE4.

“There is potential for organisations to make significant energy savings, by reducing carbon emissions through the implementation of efficient technologies,” explained Marek Lukaszczyk, marketing manager for Europe and Middle East at Weg. “Our approach is a brilliant example of employing intelligent design to a product previously renowned for its large energy consumption. Electric motors are widely cited as Europe’s largest consumers of energy, and Weg’s range is enabling users to reduce the environmental impact of their industrial applications.

“In fact, Weg already contributes to the increase of renewable energy sources in the world. We’ve supplied substations and transformers to a multinational energy sector company for five solar and wind power plants in Brazil, of more than 962.7 MW.”
